If you need to order dealer parts, get them from Shannon Brookshire, (713) 943-7010, at Champion Toyota in Houston. They provide BIG markdowns to YotaTech members & ship VERY cheap.

So that's what the difference was on the cold weather package, my truck had that (it was originally delivered to a dealer in Boulder), but I never could find anything that was different about it. Do you know of anything else that's different with those cold weather models?

Dale - I don't know of anything else that was different. Maybe they also had different batteries or tires. Sure would be nice if they'd offered a higher output alternator in the package. Info on the starters came from the local dealer, so trust it as much as you'd trust the dealer for anything else.

Figure out what the cause of the problem is then fix that:

There is an alternator upgrade for the OEM Aisin available--I got mine rebuilt to a 130 amp max output w/@ 80 amps at idle. Here's the company info:
Boyle Future Technology
12325 Locksley Lane
Auburn, CA 95602
Phone: 530-888-6290
total cost including two way shipping from/to East Coast was $185.00. Compare that to the dealer cost of new Aisin 60 amp for @ $400.00.

ive had this probalem with me 22 r-e for years, since i got the truck.
take the starter in and have it bench tested or try to jump start the truck next time this happens.
i currently have a bosh starter and it is no better than the OME starter.
im starting to think it is the wire from the ignition as previously said.
i have replaced the battery cables and it didnt change anything at all.
