update!

went snow wheelin again. i used my winch multiple times. pulled out a full size dodge twice, 2 toyota's, and myself. it worked great every time. didn't get pics of everything, but i got a few.

it was a pretty hard pull, i had to use a block. (if i would have had more line out, i don't think the block would have been necessary.)

the dodge got stuck again. so i was trying maneuver around and ended up getting stuck myself. i just hooked to him and used him as an anchor .

this winch has yet to fail me, and I'm sure that day will come. but for $344 with a lifetime no question warranty, you cant go wrong..

Was the guy in the Dodge out there by himself? Just seems to me that it isn't a very good idea to go out wheeling on your own, especially in that kind of weather, unless you have a winch.

Great pics. All you've done is made my decision on that winch easier.

update!

i hate to say it, but the winch broke it worked flawlessly the last time i used it, i don't get it.. it still works it just wont free spool? i have power out and in only.. I'm not sure what went wrong, but I'm glad i have a warranty

i called 4wheel parts and they said i had to call back on Monday to talk to the warranty dept. i asked the guy how they would handle it, and he said that they would send me a new one asap but they have to charge my card for the amount of the new one until they receive the broken one. then they will give a full refund.

i don't now what this says about the quality of the winch?
i mean it happens to the best of them! i hope the next one lasts,(and so should smittybilt).

the first one could just be a lemon,(i hope). but if numbers 2 and three are junk? then id say that smittybilt is junk also! but for now that is not the case. I'm just going to assume that i got a lemon at that the next one will last for years.

Still sounds like a good deal, they're paying for half the shipping. Like you said: hope the new one lasts!!!

my friend had one of the early 8000 smitty built.. think it had a 2 year warrenty or something like that.. it seemed to bog down fairly easy from what he told me. also be carefull of where the control plugs into the housing.. his cracked out around the recptical, they wouldnt fix it or send him a replacement part because they said it was opperator abbuse lol for the money though its worth it in my oppinion... i really like the bumper, looks like you did a quality job on it.
