I did not want to hijack other peoples threads so i did my own.
I have a knock and I don't know what it is.
I don't think it's the valves or rocker arms hitting the valve cover. I just adjusted them with it hot. It was making the same noise after my head gasket job. I had the valves adjusted cold and they are not hitting the valve cover ( or alt least there are no marks.)
The valve cover looks ok to me
I do have a leaking exhaust in two places. before the muffler and at the muffler it self.
But why is the sound loudest on the cover bolt? Does this mean its deep like a rod? The video does not show it but I cant hear it when the stethoscope is on the block.
Without the stethoscope on it sounds like a normal 22 motor to me. Listening to the stethoscope on the bolt like that will sound bad but does magnify the noise considerable. Just from what I am hearing I think you are ok.
How does it sound when you put the stethoscope on another bolt? It will probably be niosy as well.
Just the head gasket and timing chain.. New head, valves, cam, guides, oil pump the engine was rebuilt and over bored 70K miles ago.
The reason for the new head gasket was over heating do to a blown radiator hose.
I think im just going to let it go until i can hear it without the stethoscope. It could be the new valves getting seated for all I know. Its probably the rocker arms. I will pull the valve cover when I get in the new rocker arm studs ( That I have not found or ordered yet.)
I would have to say I agree with the others, sounds like a normal 22 motor. Maybe add a little Lucas Engine Break in oil, it may quite the valves a little near the valve cover like that
