My clutch hydraulics is out.

I took my 88 v6, 5 speed out for a short trip and my clutched failed to disengage on my way home. I got it back in second gear only had to drive a mile in this condition. When I looked at the clutch fluid it is empty. I will need to replace both master and slave cylinders.

Easy to do. OEM parts are inexpensive, too.
Don't waste your time and money on after-market. I found Aisin master cylinder for same price as other after-markets.

I found a kit with both cylinders on Amazon for $53. I'm a little hesitant to buy it, it is Aisin.

I tried the parts stores master and slave and the master squeaked. The slave ended up leaking.

I have aisin now and will never use anything else..

Here's a video I made showing how to replace both the master and slave. Not too bad on these trucks. Be happy it's not an internal slave where you have to drop the trans to get to it. Just another reason why Toyotas are better than Ford or Jeep.

Thanks for the video. Are all masters and slaves the same on these years? V6 or 4 cylinder.

Not sure if the parts are the same, but the process is identical.

Same experience with master cylinder. Returned it to OReilly and nice salesperson found me an Aisin for about the same price, had it delivered to the store for me to pick up.

OP,
I suggest you inspect your carpet and floor under the master cylinder for fluid/rust.
Also, try Toyotapartsdeal.com.
Good prices for OEM.

also - use a LARGE C Clamp to "lock out" the slave cylinder from pushing on the clutch for WHILE BLEEDING.

This prevents the "spongy" pedal as the bleeding fights the clutch fingers...
Its a simple trick and it worked wonders on my 4Runner!

It isn't the brand I'm concerned about, the price seems to low that it maybe a knockoff. I tied to see if refilling and bleeding would temporarily last but I could not get any pedal pressure. I m thinking it is slave, it is wet around it.

Talked to the dealership, for hey sell a MC for $170 and SC for the $35. The guy said there is only one slave but three different master part numbers. I willing to take the chance on the Aisin kit the from Amazon. No hurry to get it fixed it's my spare truck, but I was hoping to work on it thru the warm spell Thursday. It's suppose to be high 50s-60s

I got my aisin master and slave from Rock auto for like less than $50 combined.

They're selling you the same thing but charging you more.

I get my Aisins off of ebay. I have tried other brands and mostly had problems. Now I go with just Aisin. Not a bad price off of ebay and usually just change both when I do a clutch. The brake fluid is hard on the seals.

Thanks, I wasn't expecting it to be that cheap for the parts.
