my attempt to disable drl's on 2nd gen 4runner..
so ive done about 2 hours of research on this topic.. i want to disable my daytime running lights on my 92 4runner. Appearently mine is from canada (???).. but either way, i have daytime running lights. all the lights turn on as soon as my car starts moving (and is turned on) except dash lights.Headlights get slightly brighter if i turn the switch all the way on, and i have to turn the switch on order to get access to the highbeams. no difference between parking lights and off unless the car hasnt moved since it was turned on.
Ive read numerous posts.. and the best source i can find said to remove the piece in front of the shifter, and there is a grey module in there which i found... and said to cut the yellow/red striped wire. I cut this... but they still come on once the car is in motion.. i also tried unplugging the whole module but this just makes it so the lights dont work at all does anyone have a REAL solution to this? I just want to be able to turn off my lights without having to turn off the car. And i dont want anyone saying that it is stupid or unsafe to disable them. if i wanted my lights on, i would turn them on, like when it is dark.
heres what i did:

I find it wierd that that space where your module is, is used for many different things on different runners of the same model year (actually gen 90 to 95).
My 94 has the ABS sensor, my 93 surf (halfcut) has the 4wd computer and my 95 has....something else I dont remember.
I wish I had the answer for your question though, but I do not. Try playing with a test light and the ignition on/off until you isolate which wires may be involved and then maybe it will take less troubleshooting of actually cutting wires that was unnessary.

My Canadian '91 has the same DRL module, but the wiring colors are different. Instead of cutting the wires and having a mess on your hands, just put a small piece of tape on the male end and test each wire.
On my '91, the black wire with the orange stripe is the main DRL wire. Put a piece of tape on the male end of this terminal and plug the connector back together. Presto! no mor DRL. Looking from the front of the female terminal, it is the lower right slot (not sure if same on yours).

well.. i figured out that the wire i cut is for highbeams. just realized they didnt work the other night. THanks for the suggestion on using the tape on the male end.. would have helped to prevent this. Haha. i will let you know which wire it is to disable the DRL's when im finished.. . at least for my truck
