have i been hit? MSD says they make no such thing for the 3.0 and yet here it is:

This will fit right? If not i want a high performance starter, anybody know of one?

 

Also, i just found that Pro Comp sells starters, do they make them for the 3.0?

What is wrong with your starter? or why do you need a "high performance" starter?

 

relax. Its been up for one day. And to agree with dirtoyboy, why do you need a performance starter...for the 3.0 too..haha.
Maybe it will get it up to 26mpg?

 

Well it turns out when i got my starter out the PO had already replaced it with no name, so ya, i might get better startup. So MSD wont performe better or last longer than the factory 3.0 starter?

 

Well, i'll contact my friend at the Medicine Hat dealership for a good price. I head back in Sept. for 3 weeks so i'll get a new one then. But i just saw that this no name starter has the hose go inside rather than a nipple that it attaches to exteranlly so i might end up ordering it instead of buying it in person.

 

A Toyota starter should go a million miles...you might have to replace the contact brushes a couple times along the way

 

Most toyota starters last a long long time. Worst case, you need to replace the contacts for a few bucks and an hour or two of labour...So if you dont have a toyota starter you could find a used toyota starter, and then just buy the contacts to rebuild it.

Well, i think i'll just buy a new one. But for now i think i might be stuck buying a used one because this no name one is really different and with the tube broken and no nipple to attach it to, i am forced to get a factory one, either new or used.

 

I'd rather have a used toyota starter than a new "msd" unit...if that means anything

 

Well that should be enough. i just wanted to see if anybody knew if it would be worth the try. But if no one has done it yet and wont do it, then i might as well get stock. Thanks for all the info.
