Motor rebuild 90 4runner V6
I have a 90 4runner with the 3slow in it and it need to be rebuilt. How can I pull the motor and Tranny at the same time. I want to go ahead and put seals in the trans and separate the motor an trans outside the truck.

I would imagine the whole front end would have to come off.... You're probably better off just separating the two, it might seem like more work but i would bet money it isn't.
Oh, and 3.4 swap time, just sayin.

I've pulled the engine and trans at the same time before without removing the core support. Huge PITA. First you will need a lift with quite a bit of up-travel. Second, the vehicle will need to be first raised up to allow the trans to swing down and almost stand the motor on end and then you will need a way to lower the vehicle and straighten the engine/trans combo back out on the end of the hoist as you move it away from the engine compartment. Not easy. Rent the trans jack if you don't have one, unbolt it and just roll it out the side.
(oh, and I happen to have a 3.4 available for sale....)

I recently removed the engine without the tranny. No big deal, just be thorough and pull the engine forward and up at the same time. But I did see people pulling both together, didn't look easy and unless you raise the vehicle as wii tarded said, it will not work.

If the truck has any lift, pulling it all as a unit would be impossible with an ordinary engine crane.
Ideally, it can be done in a tall garage with a hoist.
