bent shift fork.. if it was synchros- you could it if you let the rpm's drop and pull it into gear, or turn the truck off and put it in gear.

can you do it easily when its off, or is still hard? Desert was right on the syncro's part if you can do it while its off or when dropping the rpms down

When is the last time you replaced the bushings under the shifter? I know it will take a lot of slop out of the shifter and might be part of your problem. Just my teo cents.. The sight is for upgraded bushings http://www.marlincrawler.com/catalog/70/parts_upgrades

Good luck!

i just got this truck a couple months ago not really sure on anything that has been replaced before an something in my transmission is also screaming at me sounds like a constant grinding i replaced pilot bear clutch fork pressure plate flywheel clutch an it removed the problem for a little bit but if i shifted fast enough i would still grind into 3rd 4th an 5th

how many miles are on that tranny? That grinding usually means syncros are going bye bye. Thats a lot of syncros to go bad at once though, but it can happen if the previous owner was a crappy driver
