Manual Crank Window Problems

Hi, I got a '88 pickup with a manual crank window, well the window always gets off track and messes up when you roll it up or down, so I bought a new window regulator that came without any instructions, has anyone replaced a regulator before?

That should be part of your regulator.. I put a manual window regulator in an 86 Pickup a while ago and that horizontal thing came with it.
You could try looking at your local junkyard for one

You may not need parts, but you might as well install the new regulator if the old one is worn or you can't return the new one. With the door interior exposed, look and analyze the movement of the window glass and when and why it jumps the track. Try manipulating the track with your hand as the window cranks up/down,,,if necessary loosen the fasteners belonging to the vertical track and re-position the track to find a new position that allows the window to operate normally. Be prepared to drill a new hole(s) and re position the track and bolt to prevent the glass from jumping out. This worked for me, good luck!

I5 wrecking in Chehalis is your best bet for finding junk yotas. I live in Lacey.. theres also a junkyard out somewhere north of yelm, man the name escapes me now that has a decent selection. Other than that I've been to em all and have yet to find another junkyard that has yotas that arent picked apart rusty bones!

As for your problem.

First thing I did to my truck was replace the regulator a week after I got it years ago. Took about 30 minutes, I got the regulator online and it came with the lower track (that holds the glass).

As far as the window jumping off the tracks, check the vertical tracks on each side. My Pass side is effed up but I'm to lazy to fix it cuz i dont sit over there =) .. The rubber track is folded over in the front track so the window gets pushed out of the track if you dont roll it up or down right.

Only place I know of it get new rubber guides is the dealer, and I doubt thats not outrageously priced.

The inner and outer rubber window seals that go along the door where the window slides up/down are $20 a piece from the dealer (mine are ffed up from having to break into my truck lol) ... so thats $80 for just those chinsy strips of rubber.

goodluck

Or you can send a pm to DeathCougar. He works at NIX99, a Toyota/Lexas wrecking yard. I got a set of manual hubs from him not long ago. I deffintly recommend.
