M.A.F sensor

hey everyone,
I have a 3.0 90 pickup and the maf sensor is not doing its job. I actually went to a pick n' pull to see if i could find the part and i did, but the thing is, is that it was on a 4 cyl pickup...the sensor looks exactly the same as the one on my truck, i mean exactly. The only problem is, is that there is a there is a serial code on it. its split with 2 5 digit numbers for example: XXXXX XXXXX.
the first five digits are the same and i believe its 25000(not sure im at work) but the last 5 are different. I know my friend who has a 4runner(same engine) has the same serial code as my truck. So the question is do could i use that part i found even though the number is different or should i go with the same exact part with the same (part)number as the one on my truck right now. here is the what both sensors look like.

thanks.

I doubt they are the same, but don't know for sure. Even if it was the same box they may be calibrated differently. BTW its not a MAF (mass air flow sensor) its a AFM (air flow meter). Two different types of air flow measurement systems.

Try it and see if it works. Some times they do and sometimes they don't.

pretty sure they arent the same but i could be wrong....
and afm=air flow meter( what the 3.0 has)
maf=mass air flow sensor or something like that

the 3.0 has a AFM not MAF

also, theres a good thread about what afm's work and which dont, search for it its very helpful.
you can also use a camry afm or a couple others i cant think of off the top of my head.
i used a 91 or 90 camry afm, you just have to fab a little, not much though.
very noticeable size difference(in the metal intake hole part) and power difference from the camry afm

You noticed a power difference when you installed the alternate AFM??? A good difference or a bad difference??

Sorry i should have clarified- yes, a very good difference. Way more throttle response and better power/accel. I did the afm swap and the isr mod at the same time and im very pleased, the 3.0 isnt as slow anymore. It also sounds great when i step on it

thanks.
The 4cyl and V6 are different. The 4cyl's wiring is different and has a smaller opening.
