I am looking for a set of lug nuts for my 88 4Runner. I am switching from the factory steel wheels to the factory alloys. Thanks.

he has these brand new log nuts, $50 for all 4 wheels. ask him for the long shank ones, i like those better than the stock length, also, ask him if he can throw in couple extras for spare, nomrally, he will.

oh, FYI my local stealer wants $7.56 for each nut when i broke my wheel stud. i said HEEEEEll no.

TC4RNR - Thanks for the tip. I was quoted $5.50 each today at my local stealership. I even decided to hit some local wheel shops to see if they had any laying around.

Mud and Drew - Thanks for the remarks but but if it were that easy I would not have posted. The lugs needed for Toyota factory alloys are not easily found at auto parts stores in my neck of the woods, or online for that matter. They have a shank and a built in washer that is exclusive to Toyota and Lexus.

I would also be interested in a used set also. Thanks.

i work at a les schwab and we do lug nuts for a buck a piece. Check local tire shops for the best price most likely.

 

whatever you do, get a good measurement on the I/D of the lug holes on your rim, a digital caliber can be handy.

please correct me if i'm wrong. Toyota makes lug holes on their rims 1/400" bigger than the American counterparts, thus those lug nuts made for standard rims, are not really "snug". over time, it can cause rattle.

i just have a lug nut measured, the OD of it is 0.720"

i believe Costco carries all kinds of lug nuts all the time.

 

Try Ebay, thats where I got my last set. Less than $1 each.

Junk yard item. A lot of 4 and 6 lug Toyota alloy wheels use the same size lug nuts. Over the years I've picked up numerous sets of chrome lugs off older celicas, cresidas, etc. They look better than the dull black ones used on the trucks.

I suggest bringing a 6-pack of any tasty beverage to the TECHS at a Toyota dealership and ask for some lugnuts.

They take them off of new cars all the time when they install wheel locks.

 

The yota lugs are unusual. They have washers, long shanks, and they are tapered on the end so that you can use them with a steel rim as a spare.

I bought some that look like these.


They work just fine on the factory steel rim that I use for my spare. And just as well on my after-market aluminum rims too. But what do I know?

 

Those won't work on factory alloy rims.

 

X2... get the OEM ones. I just got a set for 45$ shipped off ebay.
