lock rite in front diff
so i ve gota 91 toyota with 78 wagoneer axles the front is a dana 44 any ways when i first started out both diffs were welded so i ended up puttin a lock rite in the rear cause i was goin through tires too fast and it just didnt seem that safe. i was out 4byin the other day and my two front tires stopped havin power , when i got home i checked it out and my spider gears pretty much blew a part in inside. my question is what dou you guys think about putting a lockrite in front. i hated welded gears i could steer and it just made the truck drive like garbage. Does anyone have any experience with a lock rite in the front how is the sterring? i like th one iput in the rear of the truck it seems to be holdin up pretty well. Any suggestion woul d help thanks guys.

I have a lock-right in the front and really have no problem steering. Yeah you feel it and have to adjust your driving slightly but it's not half as bad as what web wheelers make it out to be. If you have manual front hubs I say go for it. Don't leave them locked on pavement and you won't have wear and steering issues.

I have a lunchbox locker in the front of my Jeep. It is harder to steer when in 4WD but not at all impossible. I would prefer a selectable locker, especially since I don't have manual hubs, but I'm not sure that it'd be worth the extra expense.
