Lift help

I drive a stock..ish 1991 toyota pickup. (see sig for info) Anyways, im running no lift and 32x11.50" tires its nice but I want to bump up to 33x12.50"
I was planning on buying a body lift and mild suspension lift to acomplish this.
Was looking at 4crawler.com, looks like he has some good products.

I was going to order a 3" body lift and a 1.5" bj spacer and some rear shackles. I want to run 33x12.50 on 15x8.5 steelies with 3.5" backspacing.

Could I run this with just a body lift ( would be running 32x11.50" for awhile) I would add the bj spacers and shackles after.

Also I wanted to know there seems to be a few things that 4crawler has not really covered ( to my knowlage) such as:

fuel filler neck lenght
Transfercase clearance

If I buy the 3" kit from them will I be expected to have to buy more parts to complete the kit ( I know I will need to make sure to order the shifter extension and such)

Now before you guys come telling me that I should go with a 1" body lift well.. to be honest... I just want to raise the truck so I can stuff some bigger tires in there and clear my rims. then I will eventually lift the suspension more.

Thanks for the help guys!

With the BJ spacers and some longer shackles in the rear you could run 33's no problem. I had 33's on my 91 Ext Cab with only cranked torsion bars and a block in the rear. Now That I went to 35's I have a home made 2in body lift and the same suspension set up.

The 1.5" BJ spacers will be enough to clear the 33s. There are a bunch of folks on YotaTech running that setup. Then some shackles on back to balance it out would look good. I don't have any experience with the body lift but 3" seems like a lot of body lift to me. I'm thinking about doing 1" on my 4Runner. You'll want to get a longer shock to match the BJ spacer. I am running the OME shocks. There is a soft and a firm version that they offer. I wish I had gone with the softer setup.

Check out the link in my sig for what the BJ lift will give you. You'll want to soften the tortion bars a little after the install. Innitially they'll lift if more than 1.5".

Good luck.

Here is the way my truck sits with nothing but a 2in body lift and cranked T bars with no rubbing whatsoever

Well I want to keep my bumper and valance and I want to lift them with the body aswell.

My truck will spend most of its time on road ( I drive alot) and I will go out on weekends and do mild offroading. Mostly minor flexing and mudding. Will the body lift be able to handle the stress? ( was going to get the wider blocks to reduce the chance of one of them punching through)

I just want to make sure my wheels wont rub with the big backspacing my new wheels have

Honestly I would go with just the BJ spacers and the longer shackles. You shouldn't need any body lift at all. With the body lift you will have to worry about raising your bumpers, valance, making your shifters longer, and putting a spacer for your steering shaft. Also if you do the body lift AND the spacers 33's will look pretty small in your wheel wells IMHO.

I'm with Rcross. Or go with the 1" body lift and BJ spacers. Anyone have experience with 1" body lifts? Is is easy to install and not take any more adapting other than installing the blocks and longer bolts?

The 1" lift shouldn't be any more than the spacers and bolts. There will be a 1" gap from the grill to the bumper unless it also comes with a spacer for it as well.

For my body lift all I used was some scrap 2"x2"x3/16" square tubing for spacers (you can see the front ones just below the bumper) that I had left over from my sliders. It cost me about $9 for hardware and took me about 3 hours to install it by myself.

I haven't worried about the space left between the bumper and grill, as I'm planning on building a custom front winch bumper in the near future.

Im really hesitating if I should do the 1" body lift, because I know that as soon as I install it I will wish I went for the 3". So why not just get her done at once.

Pretty sure 4crawler.com offeres all the parts I will need.
Still not sure on the gas filler neck and the clearance of my transfer case shifter.

anyone help me with that?

The gas filler neck will work just fine. You just hav to loosen the clamps and slide the rubber hose all the way to the end and tighten the clamps back up. Mine still had to be stretched slightly when I put the screw back in at the top, but once you get the first screw started it's easy. This was one of the more time consuming parts of the install but if I did it again it wouldn't be.

Transfer case is a non issue. I never messed with mine at all and honestly I'm not sure I even understand what clearance with it you're talking about.

I have a 3" on my '95 and have had no problems with it at all in the 11 or so years I have had it on. I took my time and installed it right and have never even known it was there. Install a nerf or slider ont he side and the frame rail doesn't even look bad IMO.

Oh and I could clear 33x12.50 easily with no rubbing. I threw a set of 35x12.50's on there to see how they fit though and I couldn't run them. I had trouble backing out of my friends driveway to even take a pic withthose monsters on.

I had my gear shifters cut and welded because no one made the screw on extensions like 4crawler does back then, and even if they did the internet was not like it is today so I wouldn't have been able to find them anyhow. Definitely use them...

Here's a pic of my truck on the 35's... Remember the 33's are several inches smaller.

If you have any other questions or want pics of anything just let me know.

I have a 3 inch BL on my 94 pickup. No issues. I had the BJ spacers but I didnt need them to clear the 33x12.50's so I sold them.

The transfer case clearance I was talking about is from the shifter itself, it seems it has very long throws and I was worried with the lift it would catch on the body.

I think early next month I will order the lift then

Hey ovrrdrive, how long was the install?
I like the look of yours (seen it on toyota nation)
I wanted my truck to look as close to stock as possible besides the lift.
meaning no gaps on the bumpers or anything like that.
