lc coils??? appearantly not

hey everyone need some help before I sell em off....

I bought some "fj80" coils from a 95 to do my coils in the rear and get some lift... just as many ppl have done. well after I got my axle down, replaced the upper control arms with adjustable ones, and my new brake line. I took the old coils out and found out they were at least 3/4" bigger in diameter, than my new coils.... about 1 hours and 2 sets of spring compressors later, i figured out they really didnt fit. any ideas on what i have in my backseat? cause I am going to buy more tomorrow unless someone tells me a miracle cure to making my stupid coils wider...... kinda like finding a board stretcher at work... sigh. and having longer shocks with no lift feels like ▓▓▓▓ just in case you ever wondered. So my "landcruiser" coils need to be properly identified... they are about 19" tall and have the outside diameter approx equal to stock 4 runner rear coil inside diameter.

They are probably LC front coils. You need the rears.

Just because he gave you what you thought was a pair of rears doesnt mean thats what you have. if the diameter is consitant all the way up and down they are front. if they are rears they will have a small coil on one end.

How do you know they were the rears rather than the fronts?

i know because of that damn small coil... arg... anyway I would like to know what year they are off of so I can sell them to someone who actually needs them. or give em away i dont care... maybe keep em for a solid axle coil spring set up....hmmm... anyway if you guys happen to know what year land cruiser had smaller diameter rears that'd be awesome.

Do you have the color codes? You can probably figure out what they are off of then.

Do they look like these?

Those are '97 Landcruiser fronts.

These are '97 Landcruiser rears and my stock rears.

You can see the difference. I had to buy a whole set of '97 coils, so I know what the front and the rears look like. You have the fronts, the guy who sold them to you gave you the wrong ones!

WOW those pics really clear it up. the main difference I see right away isnt at the bottom at all but the top.... the fronts( which i guess i got) come to a flat spot like a flat end screwdriver, while the rears just kinda stop half way through a turn. too bad i didnt get both , cause I could've. now I have some procomp coils ordered, and its not worth it to go all the way back.... anyone want some fronts???? thanks slo surfer those pics really helped.....ps nice runner

Sorry, I forgot I took those pics of the fronts when I sold them. I would have posted them sooner. You could put them up for sale in the marketplace, the 3rd gens can use the front coils to lift their rear. Let us know how the procomps work.

Oh and thanks for the compliments.
