Are knock sensors model and year specific?
Ive tried searching this out a bit but cant really find anything about the subject.
I have a 95 toyota pickup 3.0 3vz motor, maybe the origional but I doubt it.
The head of the knock sensor is completely melted off with the connecting wire just flopping around.
I'm headed to pick and pull tomorrow and unless they have a toyota pickup there I am planning on grabbing a knock sensor from a 4 runner or something.
But my question is, are knock sensors model and year specific?
Can I use any 3.0 knock sensor in my motor?
Cause I can buy an Camry one for 35-50 dollars but a toyota pickup specific one is like 190?
Probably going to get a 4 runner one but seeingwhat the compatibility is?
Thanks

Yes (but not very).
Got to RockAuto.com Find your part (it's under emissions). Click on one of the part numbers, and it will list what vehicles that part will fit.
The Camry won't fit. Any post-'92 truck or 4Runner will do.
And think about buying a new one for $110. knock sensors are very tough, so a junk one is probably fine, but there is no way to test them, and they are, shall we say, a pain to install.
