Knock sensor

Hello, first time posting here ever. I ran into an issue with my 1994 toyota 4x4 22re 5spd. My truck is throwing CEL code 52 knock sensor after I swapped in a rebuilt 22re.I can't find the wire that comes from the engine harness connecting to the knock sensor. I believed the connectors/pigtails are ripped off. Any idea what color is the knock sensor wire? I looked at the ECM and saw a black wire connecting the KNK splice a long wire directly to it from the sensor and NO LUCk. Thank you for your time.

The knock sensor is a black wire. A lot of people remove the knock sensor and bypass it. I had this problem on mine. I ended up buying a new knock sensor ($50 on RockAuto) and got a new pigtail on eBay for $25 (official Toyota! Score!). Soldered it in, hooked it up, no code.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your response. Wow that's a killer deal on the knock sensor, all Prices on KS are $100 and up! Pigtail wires from the 3vze are the same?

If you hurry and go to RockAuto, the price is $61.89, I just checked. And yes, the connection is the same for both the 22RE and 3VZE.

Good luck with everything. Just make sure after you install the parts to pull the EFI fuse and clear the codes; else it will still buck a bit.

Hey ordered new knock sensor from rockauto and splice wire and plugged in the knock sensor. CEL still back on. It comes on only when my rpm hits 2.5k and triggers the code. Once I turn off the car and start it back up it resets. Any other suggestions?

you replaced the knock sensor in kind in the correct place right? If so, your wiring is probably the problem. I had an issue, only resolved when I replaced wire from plug to ECU.

Yes, the left side of the oil filter. I hand tightened it on and plugged t in. Gevo, I'm going to wire it straight from KS to the ECU.

you used a shielded wire and grounded the ECU end of the shielding to the engine ground wire E1 ?
