was readin the owners manual in the '86..it says top speed for 4th gear in a 5spd vehicle..is 93 MILES PER FRICKEN HOUR!!!!!!!!!...what the hell...my truck wont even go 75 in 5th gear..i shift around 20mph, 35mph, 50mph, 65mph, then im in fifth...i dont see 93mph in 4th being possible and yes im reading this in MPH and not kM/h..it says for the 22ret 4th top speed is 103..holy ...thats fast for a yota

93mph in fourth, maybe with the clutch pressed in and coasting with gravity... like say, maybe free falling out the back of a C-130?

lol, I can hardly reach 80mph in 5th... granted I have a lil oversized tires and stock gearz... but still, wow...

Yeah, also manual doesn't take into account what gearing and tire package your truck came from the factory with.

I've got 35's and 5.29s. My top speed in 5th is MAYBE 60 with a good tailwind.

Lmao... I just barely got the tranny tcase and 3rd in and everything buttoned up and ready to drive a couple hours ago. Farthest I've gone yet is 1 mile at 45mph to the nearest gas station to get a can of copenhagen and a case of beer.

Priorities my friend, priorities.

Though I did just get a new sticker. It's gotta be worth like 20hp alone right there. Maybe I could hit 65??

With my rebuild 22RE/5Speed, and 30x9.50s I can hit 80 in 4th. I have tried to push it past that but I bet she could hit 93.
My LC header is getting here tomorrow and I get that will help as well.

my truck must be a piece of ..its rebuilt with only about 45,000 miles on it..and only about 3,000 on a BRAND NEW HEAD!...it has a thrush turbo muffler with a turndown (no cat) a small exhaust leak at the manifold..and a fuel problem if im at WOT...and i CANT HIT OVER 75...not even going downhill...and it wont hold 60 in 5th on level ground...thats with 31" swampers...even with the 235/75's i can BARELY hold 70 on level ground..top speed is MAYBE 75...i remember the first day i had it...i hit almost 100 MILES PER HOUR!!!! i was amazed..and it drove so nice and smooth...what the hell happened....in the future its getting BJ spacers (1.5") 2" lift leafs in the back..a 2" body lift..and some 33x13.50's..(might have to have more lift)..and im regearing to 4.88's probably with an E-locker in the rear..hopefully..before i do that..i'll my TURBO EFI conversion done on it..with a header..mild rv cam..and a little bit more tweaking..but thats a ways down the line..might swap out the whole motor..might do the conversion idk...either way though...a greater top speed...and a more bad ass rig is in my future...(most likely the very FAR FUTURE!..lol)..paying $200 every 2 weeks..it'll be about 6 months of paying this truck off..then IN COME THE MODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so how fast should my speedometer be showin if im in 5th gear goin down the interstate..and i got 31's..usually im doing 65 by the speedo...(which is around 70mph supposedly)..im not sure..i've never tested it..so idk how much faster the truck is than the speedo..cuz im lost..i actually have decent acceleration in 4th gear at around 50-65mph..but after that...acceleration sucks..(cuz i shift in to 5th)..when are your guy's shift speeds...i dont have a TACH ..so dont say RPMS..i wont have a tach until later in the week.

hmm... first time i took a trip with my truck, was following a jeep cherokee down to dillons beach, and i was passin her up hills at 80 in 4th gear... altho, since ive retarded the timing, its a bit more sluggish, i can still keep up with the scions in our car club on the freeway when they're doin 85-90...
but let me tell you, its scary as all hell making turns in a 4runner doin 90 miles an hour... even the sweepers on the freeway have a pucker factor...
