i dont get too much from the tires as they are h/t-s and really quiet, but i hear the motor revvin up to around 3800 and the noise it makes is LOUD!

ok guys finally got a tach..im runnin 2800 rpms in 5th gear doin 65 by my speedo...which is off because im running 31"10.50 swampers...so its off by a little..im gonna say its off by about 5-7mph..so im really doin about 70-72 in 5th at 2800rpms...and im not able to hold that..now i can grab 4th and hold about 65-68 at about 3200 rpms...and at about 3800 rpms...its really rippin and roarin..and i can only get it to 3800 in 2nd and 3rd gear...in 4th and 5th its unreachable..does that sound about right?...im not gonna regear for 31's...im gonna wait and go 4.88's with 33's...so if this sounds about right..i guess i'll be ok until i regear..thanks for all the help

i got mine up to 80 today, just to see.

So 80mph with a v6 and 33's = 4000rpms

don't wanna go faster than that, but i bet i could hit 96mph in 4th, but the 4runner likes 55-70mph while on the freeway so thats where it stays most of the time! lol

I had no problems doing 150 km/h (flat land) with 5 people in my truck and a fully loaded back (camping gear) in 5th gear with my 3.slo, which is 93mph.

I didn't want to go any faster because the ass end was already heavy ass and I almost lost it when almost hitting a skunk. That and it was scary as hell going that fast.

Just took a testdrive to make sure before I shoot my mouth off: 82mph, 3th @ about 6800 rpm.
4.88's with 33 Yokohama MT's
Didn't test 4th now but last time it was over 100 miles per hour at 6500-7000 rpm
Fastest I've driven at a speed I can maintain was 122 in 5th. Only did that once, seems to cause brown stains in the drivers seat
And I'm not posting the fuel consumption numbers.

2JZ-GE swap, headers, turbo and intercooler

Must be the engine swap, because a 3.0 or 22re at 6800 rpms = instantaneous combustion of whole truck.

Speed limiter? You'r kidding right? 4R's came with a speed limiter? If any, they should have come with a speed enhancer of some sorts

I did it in my truck haha, not the 4runner.

the 4runner's factory optioned Flux capacitor @1.3 trillion giga watts makes it unstoppable. except for the little snag we know as the 3.slo syndrome. add another 1000 lbs onto what my truck weighs, and there is no way I will be hitting the speed limiter on it...

it must be my exhaust leak around my manifold thats holdin my truck back...i only have about 3/4 throttle..cuz after that..it seems to develop a miss...and i can here the exhaust leak start poppin..then if i let off the skinny pedal...it shoots a flame abotu 3ft long out the tailpipe...which happens to dump right under my seat...sounds like a shotgun...LOL..its looks kool as hell..but i dont like it..cuz its dangerous...and idk how to find this exhaust leak...cuz i've looked/felt EVERYWHERE and cant find it...o yea...is it possible to put the header off of my 80' 20R onto my 86' 22R head...cuz if it is...that would be the best thing ever...solve alll of my problems..cuz that header is PERFECT!..lol

You had listed the 22ret as the motor.

Would this have something to do with the mechanical air fan on the side of the motor?

I bet it is possible for a turbo'd 22r to do. Not to mention the tranny difference. R151f (IIRC... i know that the r154 is found behind a 7mgte) vs. W or G series.

I pull to 80 easy on flat level ground in 4th of 5th. IIRC i cruise at 60 miles per hour in 5th running just over 2500 revs. Its those damned hill climbs Mudd has beef with...........

i had an 86 2wd that i used to road trip with when i rode motocross and i got it into the 90's with a dirtbike and gear in the back going between reno and idaho, took a long time to get there but it did! of course it was a little better aerodynamicly than a four wheel drive and the low rotating mass of the little 195's helped but it is doable!!

on the other hand my 84 4x4 will barely hit 50 but it has 39.5x15-15 TSL's and 4.10's!!! you want to talk slow!!!!

I've hit 170km/h in my 4runner with stock tires (well 30x9.5's) and ive hit 160 with 33x12.5 bfg mud's,
89, v6, 3.slow,
my 99' limited hits the speed limiter at just over 170km/h, it can go way faster if i wanted too (not quickly but it climbs fine).
oh, and i average 19mpg with the m/t's... suckers.... lol.
