Damn skippy a chrome engine stand yowza!!! You sure are doin a good job. Thanks for posting the prices made me feel better about my machine shop invoice. Almost to the penny for the work done by Rebco here in Petersburg.Yeah you want the oil gone from the mating surfaces for the heads. I recomend the spray copper sealant to help the HG seal. Good luck with the shipping issue hell put in something about the better business beurro (SP) too.

He has not responded to my email yet -- I wound up buying a 6 dollar jobbie from sears Saturday so i could get it done - needless to say it was not as enjoyable.
drunberg - yea, those are definitely not my knee's! Thank for the compliment.
Foot - chrome - it was what was available. I have not heard of the copper business, I assume thats the permatex copper spray i have seen. are you saying that you spray both sides of the HG and then put em on?

Chrome is still cool!! Yeah Permatex Spray-A-Gasket. I used a dead soft copper spacer on my 22RE cause it had been milled so much, didnt want to chance tings slidin around. We used to use it when we put the blower motors for the mud bogger together and never had a hg let go. Course they didnt stay together all that long anyhow. I guess its personal preferance but next time you see it on the shelf read the can. I've always used it and had good luck. Definitly clean though.

OK SO I AM MAD
I am probably the first jackass to pull this one off. I put the left side pistons in the right side of the block. IE The pistons with an L on them are on the passenger side. I put the head gaskets on and realized they were marked the opposite of what I had done.
I am going to place a call to TED at EB and see if what the differences in the pistons are.. I am so mad right now!

I know exactly what you did; you had them laid out as they came out but you flipped the block upside down & forgot they were reversed, right? I've been thinking about that & worried I'd do the same when I came to it...
Geez, I'm sorry to hear that; I can imagine how you feel right now. Lotsa work to redo. Did you put the heads on yet?

at least my new ring compressor came in VIA ups overnight today?! GRRRR
What is the difference in the pistons? i am thinking it has something to do with the dish on top?
what do you all use to knock the pistons out of the cylinder walls? I used a long screwdriver last time, I want to not injure my new pistons when I take em out.
on another note, I got the rest of everything put on (following the FSM) up to putting the heads on.
TNR - I honestly thought that was the left side, I do that everytime I buy a part. I now have memorized that the passenger is always right!!

kat, can you take a picture of the Downey(?) exhaust and cat you're installing, I want to see how it all looks and fits up there.
(Also, when you get it running how it sounds also.)
p.s. thanks for this article post, the Mrs's is now more than happy to help me wrench around.
`She figures if you can do all this, she can at least help with the stereo install.

hehehe the L vs R thingy can getcha quick.
If you ever take an anatomy and physiology course you will quickly learn to put yourself in the person's (or engine's) position before determinig which is left or right.
IE if you are talking about something's left side you need to visually turn yourself around into that position and ascertain which is the left. After doing that for a few years you do it instinctively

BUMPIN - I am an RN, so does that make this even worse. I have taken more anatomy and physiology courses than I would like to admit. I overthought the hell out of this one and forgot to ask you guys -
Four Runner- I will certainly take pictures for you. And tell the little lady she is allowed to get dirty, i said so!
