Next up date. cooling system faults. jubilee clips need replacing and on dexcool thread seems like a have an evil mix of antifreeze which is nigh on impossiable to remove. going to flush out with hose pipe again and bleed after replacing jubilee clips. hope to get rid of an airlock which rattles around engine. this will NOT be helping to set up engine.

Hi
Well flushed engine took 2 hours to get clear water. Lawn is same colour now as brown sludge in engine see how much grass dies. Still cannot get it air free as wheel ramps dont give enough height. It is much so better than before at l now have a stable tick over. Have a plan to build a ramp out of large flat stones from a dry wall which i got free or fit a bleed valve as used on renaults.

Look up Lisle 24680, it can help get the system full. There are videos of it's use on YouTube. Honestly though if your system isn't leaking anywhere it should purge the air all on it's own and pull the coolant it needs from the overflow bottle. Just leave the cap on the radiator and let the pressure do its thing.
I just start the engine when at a slight incline with the radiator cap off. While the engine warms up I switch the heater to hot but leave the heater blower off. Then I wait for the coolant in the radiator to all of a sudden start rushing by, that confirms the thermostat is open. Then I fill it with as much coolant as I can in a quick manner and reinstall the radiator cap. I generally add coolant to the bottle till it's over the full mark then go for a drive being sure to get the engine up in the rpm range a couple of times. After that I do not remove the radiator cap. After a couple of days the system should be good to go. If you need to keep adding to the overflow bottle after a couple of days you likely have a leak somewhere.
You must have a correctly functioning radiator cap and no leaks for this to work.

Hi odin
Totally agree with you. Need others who have a 3vze engine to let me know if heater hoses are running close to bonnet. I think this is my problem. No I am not losing coolant and no tell tale signs of leaks. Heater works better than ever and on temp gauge no fluctutions even when stationary in traffic. Its just the rattle in heater matrix so annoying.

I have flushed my coolant system several times and the only thing i've done towards removing any air is just letting the car idle until the thermostat opens and draws the coolant into the engine and I pour the coolant in as it's doing it's thing. Then I let it sit for a few minutes idling and throttling up every few seconds.. you could see the air bubbles coming out.. eventually when I've had enough I put everything back together and it burps the rest out on it's own.

fitted air bleed valve
Hi
have finished fitting bleed valve. when i cut heater pipe no coolant came out. ummmm not right. filled coolant through bleed valve with rad cap off. when coolant came out of rad filler neck cap replaced carried on filling cooling system. took over a litre of coolant. that seems alot. warmed engine up and bled through valve. went for quick test drive bottom end power up quite alot. pulls truck along at 10mph with no throttle. ummm will do a few trips to see if it will settle by its self.

Just ordered a set of these.... noticed two different options on eBay, both the same price. I opted for the metal injectors opposed to the plastic injectors. Are they both identical in function, any pro's or con's to either set?
