i've got an itch..

i've got a dangerous itch.. you know that itch you get when you get somewhat 'done' with you rig, kinda to a point where you are very happy with it, and yet... almost, bored with it?

well, i have ideas for my future 4runner... and i've thought long and hard about most of this. i was heart-set on a tacoma, but can't imagine not having a 2-door removable top situation... so i scrapped that.. thought maybe an FZJ80 for future family transport/wheeling purposes, but am scared away by the gas bill...

so back to the 1st gen 4runner... i'm thinkin a custom IFS setup(btw i'm getting away from "rockcrawling" and more into extended trips[4-7day] with baja-esque type situations.. it's much more fun inmo) consisting of either an already existing kit from say Donahoe, or like companies.. or figure out a custom IFS setup using tundra, or tacoma parts and custom where needed...

i want a rig that can handle a long trip at higher rates of speed with ease.. speed, which brings me to the engine side of the pipedream.. obviously the 3.4 would be a great motor for this rig, but what about a 2.7 with some performance parts? i even saw some 1JZ-GTE's on a local listing here in Utah recently.. tempting.. that'd get the SOB movin..

overall, it'll be built to accomplish safari/exploration type trips, with a baja flare... so, bullbar bumper, snorkel, rooftop tent, e-lockers, armor all around, larger gas tank, around 3" lift and 33"s..

i'm excited just thinkin about it. i'm more or less bored at work, and thinkin outloud.. so, i encourage you to throw out comments and ideas on suspension combos/ engine swap ideas and so on...

thanks guys... maybe i should file some TPS reports now..

-Jason

PS.. get back to work

Just so you know, you cant use an e-locker in an IFS system. Only solid axles.

Not exactly true...

You can use one in the rear of an IFS truck, just not in the front 7.5" diff.

Yes, sorry I should've been more specific.

You cannot use the e-locker in a 7.5" differential found in the front of IFS trucks.

And by solid axles, I ment either/both regular rear axles and the 79-85 soild front axle
