Intake Mods and pinging
I'm looking to start playing around with my intake. Originally the plan was just to go with the ISR pipe mod(call this route 1).
But I was wondering around the junk yard, and found an AFM off a 5M-GE, the intake is significantly bigger than the 3V-ZE's(I'd give it at least 40% bigger).
When I got home I found(to my dismay) that the 5M-GE AFM has an output pipe of 3"~ ID, where as the 3V-ZE's is only 2.5" ID, as well, the 5M-GE AFM is taller so doesn't bolt right up to the airbox lid. So to se the 5M AFM I'd need to use a cone filter mounted onto the AFM and use a modified(read straight) intake pipe(call this route 2).
The only thing I'm worried about with route 2 is that I'll get pinging. And I don't have a desire to run premium gas to compensate(yes I'm cheap, shut up).
Can anyone confirm or deny my pinging concerns? or offer any other thoughts?
