From what I understand and you may need to look into it further, but I am under the impression that your main harness needs to be wired for door locks. I could be wrong on that. As far as the locking mechanisim, your door already has the holes and the mounting spot for the motor. Also with the lock motor, the harness in the door is easily added and spots for the mounting clips are in the door as well.

I know the 85-88 trucks and runners will interchange and maybe the newer ones but dont know the newer ones as well so cant say for sure.

More pictures that might help https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f198...l#post52225983

Here is the motor and where it goes.
When you get the latch assembly out. You have the option of installing an electric door lock. I am not installing it as I think your main harness in the dash has to be wired for it. I removed the electric motor as I wont be using it.

I do not know of any universal door locks that would fit. You can find them in the bone yards or some of the parts vendors on here could possibly provide you with some. Your Main Harness has to be pre wired for them to operate. I am sure there is a way to tap into some existing wire to make them operate but that is beyond my ability to have them to work correctly.

I installed a universal kit in my 91 4runner. I think it was $20.
Works with my security system and remote.

Just got done doing this. $44 on Amazon for the security system and 4 power lock actuators. Just make sure your security system can control them, otherwise the constant 12V feed will fry the motors.
