installing oil pressure guage, will the light stay on?

Im going to be putting in an Auto Meter oil pressure guage, if i just remove the stocker oil pressure sending unit and replace it with the new one, will the light stay on?

Why not hook them up together? That way you've got a secondary or failsafe.

Likely if you remove the stock pressure switch, the O/P light will never come on, it only turns on when the switch closes and completes the circuit for the light. If you want both the gauge and light to work, you can either install the new sender someplace else, or add a tee-fitting to allow both senders to be installed or get a dual output sender with both gauge and light outputs. I did this on my VW diesel, unscrewed the old switch and screwed in the new sender and both the light and gauge work:
