Just replaced my whole exhaust from the manifold all the way back, 3VZE. I tightened the down pipe from the manifold as much as I could with a 3/8" ratchet, but not sure if it's tight enough.

Is there a torque spec for those 3 nuts/studs?

Would using an impact gun on them, giving them a quick blast just to make sure they're tight, be a good idea or do I risk snapping the studs? Anybody ever use an impact on those nuts/studs?

Why would you ever use an impact wrench to tighten anything? (at least anything you cared about.)

 

The exhaust doesn't need to be super-mega-tight. As long as the flanges are in good shape, and you use new exhaust gaskets, you just need to get it tight by hand and you will be fine. If your exhaust leaks after you tighten it, you have a problem with the pipe/flange, not the torque.

 

I use my impact on as much as I can.

But one gets a feel for things after a few times.
