Well I just returned not even 30 minutes ago from my 3 hour trip to, and 3 hour trip back, down to southern Florida

All of the work DEFINATELY paid off! The truck ride so nice at 80mph +

Reinstalling the sway-bar and new end links was a great idea, cause it cut the body roll down quite noticeably, and it felt really good around long curves on i95

No more vibrations/occilations, no more pulling to the left, no more being blown all over the road by small gusts of wind; it's really nice to feel safe in my own truck again

This weekend I'm going to crawl back under the truck for a final torque down of all the BJ-bolts and what not, just to be sure



If I put 438 miles on my truck every week like I did this week, I'll reach 300k in no time

 

I get to do this all to my Dodge in the coming weeks.

Except my parts are going to cost $750 :thumbsdown:

 

well let's see, this little project was a total of about $950 worth of parts (that's with tires, but not including the alignment)

not including the other $20 I had to spend on a new 22mm socket and wrench, cause I still have no idea where my old one ran off to

 

$750 is only a track bar, and 4 tie rod ends. The alignment is gonna be another $200! Yikes!

Dodge parts are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

 

Nice work, bleeder. Helps me feel a little better about some work that I'm sure I'll be doing soon. I already recently replaced shocks and CV axles.

lol, at the moment it just wouldn't be a good move to start really modifying my truck like this; once I get another vehicle, it's on

 

i need to install new tire rod ends and new idle arm. would this be difficult to do this myself? i did basic engine stuff but never anything with suspension. 4x4 parts is going to charge me 700 for parts and installation. do i need any special tools? what is that bracket thing down there?

Yes, it's very simple work to do just make sure you pick up one of these tie rod/pitman arm pullers(see below).

BigBlue's right, that's all you'll need

just make sure you get an alignment done (unless you trust you'r skills enough to do it yourself), beacuse the tow will be messed up when you're done

It's real simple, pick up some PB Blaster and that tool. I like to use torque wrenches and they're worth it if you do a lot of your own maitenance.

 

tie rod/pitman arm pullers. ok thanks... how exactly do you use it?

 

Tighten on the pitman arm or the TRE and hit it with an impact.

If no impact, tighten it up, hit end with 3 lb sledge, tighten it as much as possible again, repeat. Eventually it will pop the pitman arm or TRE off.

 

ok thanks.. ima try to do this stuff myself but i think this will be the toughest project ever done on my truck so far.

 

MAKE SURE TO LEAVE THE NUT ON!!!!!!! Either the balljoint or the TRE! 'Cause sometimes they come off, sometimes they POP off!!!
