ifs hub, disc, spindle

can i use the spindle, hub and disc brakes from an ifs truck to make the full floater rear axle? all the full floater kits say to use the solid front axle spindle, hubs and disc brakes but it looks like those parts are getting hard to come by anymore. seems like they would make a kit to use the more common ifs parts. is there a difference? they both have a six bolt mounting pattern.

if you really want to be ingenious with using front IFS parts on the rear, how about a full IFS rear, just like the front... and then long travel the rear with the same parts to long travel the front...

okay, I have to shut up now to protect my own intellectual property.

agreed, that would be a smooth ride as well! i've been wanting to ifs/irs a samurai with 2 t100 ifs units. although some custom halfshafts would be in order for the rear to overcome the driver side(front ifs facing rearwards) bias of the differential. haven't really completely thought it through but maybe the stock bias could be used and using a cv joint output shaft to overcome the driveshaft angle. i just have access to a lot of ifs parts and it's a shame the spindles and brakes won't work on the rear full floating solid.

just food for thought... maybe IFS front could be adapted to the rear, using front spindles ... which would give the possibility for rear wheel steering? maybe through the birfield eliminator kit... or maybe not.

Actually, disregard all the posts above, because YES you can use the IFS spindle, hub, and rotor. It will make your axle 3" wider though. It is a reasonably common way of widening solid front axles without using wheel spacers to match the wider IFS-years rear axle.

There's a writeup on Pirate about it.

how would you use the spindle?
(considering the spindle is part of the steering)
have the link?

Oops - you use a SFA spindle, but IFS hubs and rotors:

ahh.... 4 wheel steering. that's interesting. full time or selectable, front locked straight with rear steering OR rear locked straight with front steering. that would require a steering xfer case? that would be ingenious. let's invent that...too cool!

sorry to get off topic. looking at the pic of the adapter, i think if the spindle mounting holes were drilled to match the IFS spindle, this would work. i just need to see how far off the IFS and SFA spindle mounting patterns are.
