12 to 14 degrees BTDC is the sweet spot on my truck, runs good, lacks some power (3.SLO!). Any more and I get poor gas mileage, from 17.5 down to 13.5 - big difference.

I believe 10 BTDC with jumper in is the proper setting. Distributor should be right in the middle of it's adjustment when timing is at 0 degrees. If it's not then it's still a tooth off.

EDIT: Dang this is on a 3.0? Sorry, didn't see any mention of it. edited to reflect proper timing on the 3.0.

What did you retard the timing too? Could you be advancing instead, my experence the more you retard the timing the worse it seems to run just what I noticed on my 3vze

I saw this post did you do a timing belt recently or head gaskets? I find it odd that your distributor and TB were off
a few teeth if you didn't and (fixed a little better) probably is not properly fixed. You need to check your TB and Distributor again to make sure. Take your time and do one thing at a time.

well i did the head gaskets 2 and a half years ago but it was sitting for the past 2 years and now i am fixing her up and yes the timing belt is on right now and the distributor is on right but when i go to set the timing and jump the and e1 it dos not do anything(it is soposta retard it 8 degrees) some one told me that it might be a tps issue but i replaced it and set it right i pulled the tps off and checked it again i checked it with the specs fro the fsm
