idle problem please help!!
#21
sorry had to go to work did not get a chance to get on here but i fixed the timing felt and reset the distributor and i can get the idle down but when i put the timing to 10 dtdc it runs like crap but if i retard a lot it it runs like a champ i am very confused

I believe 10 BTDC with jumper in is the proper setting. Distributor should be right in the middle of it's adjustment when timing is at 0 degrees. If it's not then it's still a tooth off.
EDIT: Dang this is on a 3.0? Sorry, didn't see any mention of it. edited to reflect proper timing on the 3.0.

a few teeth if you didn't and (fixed a little better) probably is not properly fixed. You need to check your TB and Distributor again to make sure. Take your time and do one thing at a time.

well i did the head gaskets 2 and a half years ago but it was sitting for the past 2 years and now i am fixing her up and yes the timing belt is on right now and the distributor is on right but when i go to set the timing and jump the and e1 it dos not do anything(it is soposta retard it 8 degrees) some one told me that it might be a tps issue but i replaced it and set it right i pulled the tps off and checked it again i checked it with the specs fro the fsm
