i want to ask the experts about removing my intake silencer.
i have read the write-up and have a relativly good idea what to do.
I really just want to know if there is anything i should be worried about or consider while removing all those parts? Or anything at all i should be worried about? Or can i just get the pipes, the brass fittings and attach them to the new pipe and that's it??? That is all i need to replace the intake????

 

Everything was covered in the tech article, there really isn't anything that you have to worry about while removing the stock intake.

 

Really? you mean all your answers were not solved by searching ISR? or intake silencer? Really?...1800+posts and you are starting a thread on ISR?

 

yea so, only now i am playing with things under my hood. a turbo on the way for the 3.0 and some MSD ignition items and rev limiters. and some nology wires and dual batteries and since i removed my cruise control i am working on raising my intake and soon a snorkel.

So i can just remove the pipes and sensors and not worry. That's good, thanks for your info. That's all i needed to hear.

 

There really isnt any sensors to take apart or anything. Just remove the two vacuum hoses off the old intake, make your new pipe, drill and put your brass fittings into the pipe. Then just re-attach the vacuum hoses (try to make them close to the original location).

 

Best cheap mode I did, sounds great and flows better at 4-5000 rpm. Get a 3" 90degree electrical conduite, a couple of rubber pipe conectors and rock on. Easy job

 

Yea i think i got it all figure out, plus i'm going to move the intake box up to where the cruise control was and i am going to drill a 3: hole and stick the intake into the fender area! cold air intake anyone?

 

Well if you have the 3.0, I cant see what is wrong with the intake behind the headlights (minus water uptake), and in some of your threads you talk about putting a snorkel on, so why not just wait instead of cutting a hole in your inner fender.

 

The reason for moving the intake is for a second battery location in the near future
