I have $2000 for a engine swap.
I just spun a rod in my 3.0L engine and I've decided to swap it with a 4.3L Vortec, carborated engine. Any suggestions and advice on where to purchase the motor, transmission adaptor plate and 500... EdleBrock Carberator. I'm planning to keep the stock transmission for now, until I can find an automatic for the right price. I am also going to do a solid axle, leaf spring conversion to the front end. Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

But if you feel that the Chevy swap is the only way to go then DOWNEY OFF ROAD is a good place to start. Call them and talk with them and find out how much is involved and how much it will cost.
If I remember correctly it was almost 4grand for all the parts needed and you can end up doing the running gear as well because the Chevy power can be to much for the rears and transfer case not to menchin the tranny. The big thing is you don't want carbed you want e.f.i. (this from a old school motorhead) just the angles you encounter on the trail can get the carb to empty the bowl and you have no fuel.
I have a 400 hp 327 I wanted to do the same thing with but in the long run your better off with the 3.4 yota motor.
Just from the money stand point you would save it's worth it. Just my .02 cents

Why a carbureted 4.3? Get a newer one, i am in the process of rebuilding one right now, its got the TBI (throttle body injection) but even it only makes 155hp in stock form, my buddy has a newer 4.3 with the MPI in his S10 and that thing makes a little over 200hp in stock form and it rips. Though the 3.4 in my truck comes pretty close in power with a LOT better MPG.

Get a TBI, you won't get hit much harder at a yard for the wiring/ecu and the reliability/driveability/economy will be SO worth it. And if you have the money for the SAS etc. you can spare another 100 or so for a TBI engine...

Been down this research path myself...
NWOR has swap parts too
And don't forget Advanced Adaptors
There's also another big shop that makes stuff, but I can never remember their name, Google will find it for you

Ya know..I have the buick 3.8L in my yota pickup. Its the older one, with the carb. I wish it was fuel injected :-( Im actually looking now at swapping in a newer fuel injected 3.8L.

I could be wrong...but im pretty sure the vortec 4.3 is fuel injected, unless you slap a intake and carb on it. My 92 sonoma is a non-vortec motor and it even has TBI.

Tbi?
I was wondering what a TBI stands for. I'm still new to this. I just picked up a 4 cyl. from the junk yard for $250. I have found that there are loads of upgrades for this motor. I'd need to find a transmission now, unless the bell housing will bolt up to my 3.0 Transmission. Does anybody know if they bolt up without an adaptor?
