How safe are 2nd and 3rd gen Trucks?

Better than a geo storm.
I'd say the yotas are pretty well protected from front and rear collision, but as with any car, a side impact will be devastating.
I know that when i was in my wreck, what really saved alot of my truck from getting destroyed was the non-stock bumper.
