Title says it all, this is on a 22re 1st gen. It has lots of problems, but CEL has never come on unless i use the jumper thing. is their a way the PO could have dissabled it? and is their a way i can make it go on? something i might be able to unhook?

The CEL should light up w/ the key in the run position and engine off.
I have seen some crazy things done w/ CEL's (bulb taken out/wires cut)!

well i knew my bulb was good, because it would light up when key was turned, but now i know a few more things. Like if i remove the MAF the CEL light does turn on woo hoo, also my truck wont run long without the MAF plugged in. Thanks all for your help, i guess the 22re light does not turn on very often.

it shouldnt come on unless there is an electrical malfunction or egr prob w/ the motor. and i have seen people wire the efi fuse to kill the 2trip logic to the ecu.

In my FSM I read the method to check the CEL. IIRC it involves connecting two of the test connections. I can't remember where I read that. If you really need to check your light let me know and I'll try to find the procedure in the FSM for you.
