nope not trying to block it off! Have egr code 71! Egr is good Tvv for egr is also good. There is a blockage some were between the egr and my header! I have tested and retesed everthing so Im down to seeing if mabey the gasket on that plate is fliped and causing no flow or mabye its my header? Not to sure at this point!

Get prepared to pull the head! The blockage is probably in the passage on the driver's side of the head, leading to the exhaust ports. Clearing this clog will require the vigorous use of a coat hanger or brazing rod; not easily achieved without removal of the head.

At least, that was my experience.

Oil and coolant also run through that block-off plate, so be prepared for a mess.

Clean the passage from the EGR side of the head. It worked fine for me.

Check the Egr temp sensor,If you had it out and cleaned it,this may be your problem. Also if you gutted the cat this can cause it also.See the post for putting in a 10 ohm resistor, this will keep the code from coming up.

ok ive done all of that! I cant blow air threw the plate on the back of the head! I blow were the egr is threw the head and its clogged somewere from the egr to the header! So I guess I will have to try and pull the plate off the back! Just dont want to pull the the head off but might have to! I have tested the egr temp sensor and its good!

Ahhh....so that's what that plate is for. I'd always wondered since I did my rebuild.

With my new engine, I had no problems until I gutted the Cat converter, then I started getting code 71.
