Smile How do you flush block?

Hey guys,

I am getting ready to clean up the short block (Head Gasket Project) and I am having trouble finding the information about flushing the crap out of the block.

I have thought about pulling the oil pan(i have 2wd) and doing an oil pump as well -- not sure yet -- back to the question - how do you guys flush it all out, i mean i have all kinds of crap in my oil pan don't I? Can I use my hose and push water through, would that be enough?

Anyone else who has done their HG's -=- Did you flush the radiator(professionally) as well?

Katie

There should be a drain plug so in theory you could just open the drain plug and go to town with a hose. Also, you might as well pull the oil pan and make sure there is nothing in it.

If your going through that much trouble I'd replace the seal on the oil pan.

never flushed a block but brake cleaner works great on grease ... carb cleaner same thing. probably a better product out there for cleaning engine parts

It's right beside the motor mount, one on each side IIRC on the 3VZ-E.
