First off hello to everyone. Im new here but not to toyotas. Ive got a 98 tacoma ext cab 2rz boosted with many upgrades and making 12 lbs of boost pushing 300 RWHP. I love toytotas. In the process of doing a 8.8 swap for a locker rear end better gear options and disk brakes.

That being said: Im looking for a work trucka and think I found one. Its a 92, ext cab, with the 3.0 3vz engine 4x4 with a sunroof for a really good deal (750.00) only thing is its been sitting for 4 years. theres not telling whats wrong with it but from the pictures ive seen the body is great and the interior is great. and it has a sun roof.

I want to check the motor out. how can I dissable the fuel pump so not to pump all that old bad gas into the motor. I plan on spraying some starter fluid in it to hear it run but dont wanna pump the old bad gas in it and clog everything up. What fuse or relay will disrupt the fuel pump and stop it from coming on.

Also for a truck thats has been sitting for 4 years. What other problems could I be facing assuming the radiator is the only thing wrong. Thats what the guy said went bad and is why he parked it.

I may go buy this truck today but wanna hear it run first.

 

deffinatly change all the oil,

look for rust under carpet in floor, an check shocks

 

would deff take some starting fluid with ya as well

 

Drain the tank.

i really would not try and use starting fluid to see how a engine runs.

I just started two of these engines after setting well over 4 years with the gas that was in them. The filter will get any of the solid pieces.

Unless you purge the fuel system first of all the fuel you still get the old gas.

You would need to keep the injectors from firing also.

 

Betcha this will disable it pretty dang fast.

 

Don't need to disable anything except the person thinking too much.

Drain the fuel. Put fresh fuel in. Done.

Pretty much no other way of getting the truck to run unless you have a portable fuel tank, pump and the hoses to hook it up.

yes there all right if u disable it the old gas in the lines will still get into the motor just make sure theres oil and start it and shut it down drain the gas and oil and ur good

 

it depends how much gas is in there but if its less than half or so you could just bring 5 gallons of good gas to mix with it. You would be fine starting the motor with the gas in it. It just may not run the best.

 

Drain the gas for sure. Its too easy, theres a drain plug. Ive personally had cars run like crap with gas thats 1 year old. Drained and filled and they run great.

Its a good idea to change the oil too. Who knows how long its been since the owner changed it. If its still clean looking I may not be as worried, but if its black, change it.
