RAD4Runner - Deck lamp Mod

This post covers:
  • Addition of overhead (bright!) deck lamp that does not rely on taillight circuit to use, AND
  • Making both stock and overhead deck lamps independent of tail light circuit.
This will allow turning on either deck lamp without having to scramble (i.e., camping in back) to front, turn taillights on, in order to use any of the deck lamps. Stock deck lamp will remain and will serve as low-level night light, while overhead is for when brighter light is needed.

When I'm done with the mod, I will move procedure/all necessary info to this original post so it will be easier to follow.

Earlier, Terry showed me how to remove this fuse block from bulkhead.

Thanks, Terry!

Spaghetti Wiring

I finally got started on tapping power for deck lamp into "dome" circuit. Got distracted by the Miramar Air Show - (OORAAH!) so I didn't finish this weekend. Here's work in progress... while I have dash apart, I'm also extending console switch harness to move switches to dash, and make room for future cup holder on console (yeey!) The Gatorade canister will be the foundation of the cup holder. It fits most sizes of coffee mugs. thanks, Bassmastry101 for the inspiration

Spaghetti for Chef

All seats out because also doing sound-proofing. Just more efficient to do these things in parallel so one has better access to wiring.

Please link your posts together

Rad4Runner -

If someone is searching for "how to access back fuse relay block" they'll get to this post. But all they'll learn is that some guy named Terry helped you -- and even though you have the reference in a different color, you don't tell us how to do it! (It sure looks like a link, but it's not.)

I'm not sure why you're creating multiple threads on the same subject, but it's easy (and will help all of us) if you link them together. Use the "link" button in the message box (looks like a globe with a "link" of chain).

Understood.
I tried to rename to "Deck Light Mod" because that was what I was really working on when I got stuck on the fuse block, but somehow, i could not change title. Oh well, will edit. And sort out posts.
