Don't have one in my pickup. Doesn't seem to steam alot in the rain either. Hm.

Well thats why they are held up with plastic tabs. THe plastic melts and the fibelglass fall onto the fire. By that time, the car is completely engulfed in flames.

Well, having extinguished around 100 car fires thus far in may career, not once did the hood liner do anything to prevent the propagation of the fire.

If you want to put out a car fire, use a fire extinguisher, not a blanket.

So if your only hang up on removing it is because or the "fire protection" it offers, forget it, rip it out.

they are designed to provied a limited amount of fire retardation, and sound deadening. That having been said I dont think the P/U's came with em, and they really aren't needed

My pick-up came with one... I think it was part of the DLX and SR5 packages or else the 3.0 option...

I would love the sound deadening for long trips hauling a trailer... it would help, that is.
