Home Grown Air box/Snorkel

Ok so I've had this idea for a bit about a snorkel setup. So when i rebuilt my motor i switched the battery to start. started the air box this week. I ran into a few problems while trying to figure how to run the hose. SO....... I did my own thing lol never seen anyone do this probably cause it's retard... still finishing it up in my spare time.

I'll get more pictures of it hooked up this week. I ran it down and then up into the fender well. Anyone know where to get just the top of a snorkel?
Thanks

Come on ppl post your opinions.... I'm curious to know what the pros say... I'm just starting to modify my truck and would appreciate all the suggestions i can get. Next on my list is a lift, i'm going with 2" ball joint spacers and new shackles possibly springs too.

ya i saw how he went but i have factory bumper and there is a bracket right where the intake hose would go. so i went down and then up for that reason and the fact it will be alot harder for water to get in there.

so... what you're saying is... you gonna fill the wheel well up with the piping and go out from under the truck and then up the fender to mount your snorkel?

it's really not that big. it just fits a cone filter. it gets a bit wider under the mafs to ad support yo it. the dimensions are 7" wide 9" long and 8" high.

Ok i got some better pics of what i'm trying to set up. I have yet to cut any exterior holes....

Here's the box, i put some bike tube to make a gasket on the cover.

Everything dry fit

I got an idea of how i'm going to come out of the fender, a buddy of mine gave me a piece off his intake from a chevy v6 (i'll get a pick of it later) thinking of this piece with a 90 facing the windshield so it doesn't suck water..

Logan has an airbox that leads to a snorkel (read his thread). I have a batt intake swap, no snorkel. So our filters sit at the same place, but he gets clean ambient air, and I get ambient/engine heated air. We are doing an experiment to see the diff. On the freeway, he gets whatever the outside temp is, I am about 5 degrees higher. No biggie. Now on the trail, Logan was pulling 72 degree air, mine registered at 112 degrees at the filter. Airbox will block heat from the engine from going through the intake. Cooler denser air makes the engine happy.

It's just a mod to put a snorkel on.. I don't think the stock box would work so i built this.

yes it does!! i had just the cone on for a bit notice it made lots of noise and little power gain if any, figured it was just sucking warm air. Plus with it being behind the light it doesn't get a good flow. I'll finish what i'm doing and see if it helps. if i don't like it i'll re think it i guess
