help with tranny issue...

So I have an issue with my 88 4runner 22re 5 speed. One first and second gear(havent tried 3rd or 4th), if accelerate to high past 3k the truck goes out of gear. I say that it goes outta gear cause what happens is that it will suddenly rev high.

Is a sign of a bad clutch, slave cylinder, syncros, throw out bearing, all the above or something else???

Thanks inadvance

If you back off the throttle to bring the rpm down, does it seem to be back in gear, or do you have to move the shifter?

I usually put in neutral and if its on first I just shift to 2nd, if on 2nd I put in on neutral and then put it back to 2nd.
This only happens when I drive it to the higher rpm which I hardly ever do. Daily driving it, I have no issues

That still wasn't clear. Does the shifter actually jump out of gear? Or is the shifter staying in gear and the clutch slipping?

Clutch is slipping. How many miles are on it? Usually it will start to slip in higher gears. If yours is slipping in 1st and 2nd it's on its last leg.

When you replace the clutch, inspect the shifter seat when you pull the shifter. Marlincrawler makes a better seat & socket.
