Help with mysterious plugs in dash!!!
Hey all, I finally pulled my dash out to fix my vent selector and since I had everything apart I wanted to check on some plugs/switches that I had seen with under the dash.
here are some pictures
Here's where it sticks out from the dash, you can turn the end around 360 degrees then it clicks and stops. Its some kind of switch, looks like its a factory location.

AHhhhhhhhh wires!!! WTF I zap strapped the looong grey wires like that, they snaked all around the bottom and where tucked near the fuse pannel.
I don't know about the other cluster of wires that are all taped up though.

Unplugged from that switch..

I have left the plug unplugged and removed all the wires since they where getting in the way.
Now this plug is tucked WAY under the dash and was hard to get to, sorry for the crappy picture, it has quite a few little prongs inside it, any ideas?

thanks for your help, this is realllly anoying. The stupid guy my dad bought the truck from did some real creative wireing...

I was trying to find a picture of another 3rd gen to see if it had the dimmer in the place I do.
Look where the clutch start cancel switch is, and then look about 2" down, you can see the round dimmer switch.

On the 2nd Gen pickup I used to own, the place where you have the first switch just had a plastic plug to fill the hole. I don't know what would go there normally, I had planned to run an auxiliary light switch to that spot.

Off the cuff the location is the location for the dimmer on a Gen2 4Runner?
The CONNECTOR looks like an OEM connector
The wires to the rehostat do NOT look like an OEM assembly
The looped up mess of wires does not look OEM
The wire COLORS appear to be an OEM designation.
My guess - its a power fader for speakers that the Preious Owner installed...
