Help me decide on which 2 wheels!!
I bought some black wheels a few weeks ago, and now I'm starting to lean towards my old polished 5 stars. I need your opinions. I'm supposed to go after work today and buy some tires for the new wheels. Need to decide if I should have them put on the old ones instead. REASON I LIKE OLD WHEELS: They are 15x10 and stick out a bit, making the truck look more aggressive. Also, I would think it makes the truck handle a little better vs the black 15x8's? Although, I might get better mpg on the 15x8's. Anyways, I guess I could run the black wheels for a few mos and sell the one's I don't want, but I'd like some opinions please. Here are pics of both.

Put your AT's on the 5 spokes and put some MT's or crawlers on the Black ones. That way you don't wear out your offroad tires near as fast and you don't risk bending a rim while off road.

Thanks guys.... So an aluminum wheel is not good for wheeling? Because it can be bent? What is an average cost to powder coat the 5 stars black?

All kinds of wheels can be bent. Steel wheels are less expensive and can be bent back into shape. Aluminum cost more and once they're bent they're gone.

Crawling, I would imagine, would be just as stressful on the rims as that pot hole I hit. Take in to consideration tires that have been aired down and a hard bump can send you home on a spare. My preference is steel when off road. I have MT's on my factory rims, and AT's on my daily driver rims. I just consider swapping rims part of the preparation required the night before I go riding. I like to check everything and make sure that I'm not going to get stranded due to a simple oversight caused by neglect.

i like the black ones, thats what im runnin on my white pickup, same body style as yours, i think they would look really good with the red. i do like how the 10" wides make the tires stick out though. i say sell both sets and then get some black ones like those in 10" wide from 4wheelparts. actually you might want to get the new ones and then sell the other ones haha

Well I went to see tires yesterday, but I didn't really see anything I liked for a good deal in a 31x10.5. Now, another question, contradicting a thread I have about 31x10.5 vs 30x9.5.... What is the biggest tread I can put on a 15x8? Stock. 32x11's?

steel gets my vote. i bent my steel rim lip, and bent the lip pretty bad, and once we got the lip bent back close, we did the lighter fluid and a match trick to seat the tire again.

my guess would be that you could tight torsion and run 32's... maybe with a 1" shackle lift in the rear too.
