hey guys,

i got a problem. when i drive i get a draft that comes through my heat/cooling vents which i think is normal? what i dont think is normal is that the air is really hot... way hotter than it is outside, and when it's 105 outside... IT SUCKS!! i think it might be the little valve that lets hot coolant through the firewall and back out and maybe it's leaking but thats about all i know. could i just disconnect the hose where the coolant goes through the firewall and connect it where it comes back out so it circulates outside the cab? can anyone help cause this really sucks. thanks a lot

change the selector from outside air to recirculation of air and keep the fan on OFF

i did that, i closed it all the way and it helped but still hot air

hmm, close the vents that you can (driver side and pass side) then aim the two mid ones somewhere else. Then the little one below the steering column just aim down. You may have some kind of leak. I honestly dont know. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in

thanks, im thinkin maybe the valve that cuts off coolant is worn out and leaking, would it hurt to disconnect the hose and stop flow completely?

Good it just be heat from the floor boards and the natural circulation of air blowing it around?

Ha ha, funny. I have about a 1/4" hole around where my steering shaft comes inside the truck. Hot and cold air enter through there. I went mudding yesterday and mud got on my feet! Good thing I was wearing sandals...

If u disconnect the hose and reconnect it all under the hood u will be bypassing the heater core and u will have no heat in your car when you need it... Im not sure about your valve leaking idea doesnt sound right to me....

I had a similar problem. It was caused by the heater cable being stuck open because a part of the cable would get snagged on the rim of the hole where it enters the center console. Now if I turn the heat on and ever want it off completly again I have to help the cable get thru that hole.
To find the heater cable just wiggle the controller and feel for a moving wire on the passenger side floor by the console, see if you have to help it get in.

ok heres a temp fix if your engien is set up like mine. see in the middle of the firewall, theres the coolant hoses and the brake/clutch lines. there should be a little switch, or lever. pull that lever. that blocks any air from going to your heater. my heater didnt ever work until my buddy turned that lever. then it started workin great. so try that until you can get it looked at.

set your air selector to cold. I get air comming in when my heater is off.

ya, but i wanted to do that until it gets cold and then hook it back up.. would it hurt aything to do that?

check the heater valve switch under the hood, thats why mine wasnt working

yep it opens n closes....new tstat....heat core dont leak...i wanna try to flush.....

no it wouldnt hurt a thing.. try it out and see if your heat lessens... im sure it will solve the problem but once u rehook it up (when it gets cold) your problem will be back again.. im really unsure of what is causign it. i hope someone will chime in...

but no it wont hurt to disconnect and bypass your heater core
