High Revving when shifting
Hello everyone. I have an '88 4Runner w/ the 3VZE motor and everytime I shift (while accelerating), the rpm jumps up by about 500 when I put the clutch in. If I'm not on the throttle just before I put the clutch in (ex: while downshifting) this doesn't occur. Does anyone have an idea what this might be? I don't have any problems while idling... After warmup, it's steady at about the 1,100 mark.
Any help or insight would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Calex

Mine used to idle 900. But then again, that was the cold season...
As far as the clutch thing, you may just have your timing off, and the clutch is starting to diengage while you have your foot on the throttle still.

Idle specs are 800 rpm (+/- 50 rpm) for the 3VZE, FYI.

High Revving
Thanks for the replies!!
It's definitely not my clutch pedal timing. I went back and tested it. Could this have something to do with a throttle position sensor?? or a bad dashpot??? (just shooting in the dark here...).
