heater and ac switch

I looked but could not find another post with this problem. My heater/ac switch went bad and would not work, I bought a new one and opened the dash, removed the radio, glove box, removed the screws that held the heater controls and removed the heater switch. great so far, when I removed the cover plate not being aware that the A/C switch was on the outside of the plate it pulled out and the plug dropped out of the holder, I haver been trying to put it back with no luck, there are some stops at the rear of the plastic housing, any tricks to putting it back in ???? Second I can't see where the brackets to hold the heater/ AC are, There is one leg hanging down on the driver side of the housing but nothing on the other side that would hold the switch, soooo I am thinking some JB weld to hold the switch, I have been working on this for 2 days and can't seem to do it. any other way to do it?? I would like to remove the housing but with the wires and cables not sure I could fix them. any help will be appreciated.......

What vehicle are you working on?

Do you have any pictures of your problem? They may help us get a better idea of what you are talking about.

Sorry about that its a 95 4- runner, I think I broke the tab off on the right hand side as I can see the tab on the left side but not on the right side. It sure would be nice to have a heater this winter, we went without one last winter and had to keep a towel in it to wipe the windshield .

Those plastic tabs can get brittle, mine broke too. JB Weld to the rescue!
