headrest questions

Will the headrests from an 87 4runner fit a 95 4runner? Also, is the gray upholstery they used in 87 similar to the gray upholstery used in the 95 4runners? Can anyone get me the measurements from post to post on the rear headrests from a 90-95 4runner? I really appreciate it fellas. I sold my 4runner without the headrests in it because I thought I had them at home in the garage. Well, I got home last night and my dad had thrown them away so now I owe the guy a set of rear headrests.

I tell you this;

I have an 87 4Runner that was missing the rear headrests when I bought it. I found the headrests to an 86' and they were too big, as in the posts didn't fit inside the sleeves on my seats. I found headrests to an 88', too big. So I have no idea what size they used. I ended up drilling out the sleeves on my seats and using the closest match I could find, which were out of an 88'.

Hmmm. That sucks. I guess I need some more measurements before I start buying them.

Can anyone measure the size of the posts and the distance between them from a 95 4runner? This way I know exactly what I need to get.

Thanks.

I can today. Later, though. I have some tinkering to do. It's stalled out at the top of my hill, and it will be a few hours before I can get back....if you can wait that long.

just measure the holes on top of your seat. I also highly doubt you'll find upholstery from a 1st gen that is the same as a 2nd gen. when i bought my runner i was missing a headrest too, a couple months of patient ebay scouring landed me an exact replacement headrest for about $20.

I no longer own the 4runner. It is in the other guys hands. I just owe him some headrests and don't have a couple of months to wait.

Just lookin for some measurements from a 95 4runner. I know alot of people up here have them, just need someone to measure for me. Wouldn't hurt if they had some extras sitting around as well

If you don't end up with any just tell the guy the truth about what happened and offer him say $50.00 if he asks for compensation. Remeber he bought the truck without them present therefor he can't complain too loud if you can't find them all of a sudden...
If you need some try a search in the for sale section there are usually all sorts off bits and pieces for sale...

if the 1st gen 4runner is an SR5 and has the sportier seats they shud fit. My 4runner is a 1st gen Special Edition (exact same seats as the SR5) and i replaced my headrests with one out of an 94 4runner and they fix perfectly but the fabric had a different design but it was the same colour so i didnt care as it wasnt noticable.

I'd say about 6 inches across. maybe 5. you can pick some up at a full service dismantler for $ 20 for the pair. thats where i got mine. as for the grey, I have the grey interoir in my 1994, and it seems a little different.

Yours should be the same, though.

Thanks and you're welcome...
