Head bolt "A" on 3VZ-FE

Hi,

Made a stupid mistake while replacing the head gaskets on my '92 4Runner 3.0L I knew I was going to replace the head bolts, so I didn't really take care to keep track of the old ones. The problem is that I assumed bolt "A" (the non torque-to-yield bolt) would be in the replacement set, but no dice.

Any ideas on how I can get this bolt? No parts stores I've talked to carry it, and I can't find a U-Pull-It with this bolt.

Thanks,
Jason

Bolt "A" will only be on sale at toyota dealership and they are not expensive, but if I remember it only cost 3 dollars.

Thanks for the info. I talked to all the dealerships in the area and they all have to order it in (which doesn't surprise me or anything)... but that means I can't work on this all weekend because the warehouses are all closed for the holiday.

Does anyone happen to know whether this bolt is the same on any other Toyota engines? U-Pull-It doesn't have any 4Runners or pickups with the 3VZ-E engine... (which says good things about Toyotas, eh?)

nope, nothing from anything else will fit (unless you can find a 3VZ-E in the junk yard that hasn'thad it's head pulled)

order 2, cause there is one on each side.

Thanks.

I already have the other one, so I'm just getting one.

Thanks everyone... this is my first thread on yotatech, and I'm amazed at how quickly everyone has responded. I'll be around again, I'm sure...

I assume you mean the small shorter bolt at the front of the drivers head and rear of the pass head. Well, keep on working, button it all up, and install the bolts when the dealer gets them in stock. just dont start it or add coolant, but go ahead and get everything else done. So you wont waste your weekend.

Go to Ace Hardware and get a suitable bolt.
This is not a TTY bolt and anything with the correct length and thread will work. They should have some cap screws which are 10.9, plenty good enough.
They are only torqued to 35 ft-lbs.
