Great Snorkel option -with pictures

I just got one of these snorkels. Came in the mail yesterday. Fits right up to the truck. It has only the snorkel body itself and none of the other plumbing with it but since I have a turbo and not the stock airbox I will be coming up with my own anyway. Thats the easier part anyways. Very pleased with the outcome. I will post picture of it on my truck when I get a chance.

I dont have an electric fan. I run sds so I dont have to worry about shorting out my distributor. Not sure how hall sensors operate in water though. I think I am going to use an f150 airbox and see if I can get that to work. I also have a bit of intercooler piping and couplers left over that I can use from my intercooler install.

seems like you would want a fan that you can shut off, or just remove the fan belt so you don't suck the fan into the radiator on a water crossing...

had my 4runner in deep water a time or 2 the fan hasnt really been an issue and as long as ur not in for prolonged periods, your electronics should be decently sealed up. good luck to ya

These first few pictures are just the outside fitup on the truck. Looks good to me. It fits really nice and is easy to install. It came with a template for holes that have to be cut and drilled.

These show what i did inside the hood. I modified a ford windstar air box that runs into the fender well. Then I used a reducer out of the snorkel to a plastic 90 to a strait section of left over intercooler piping to a rubber 90 coupler to the airbox. Hose clapms like the ones on intercoolers were used.

I am happy with the results. Now I just need to test it out.

Went to Attica (badlands) this weekend and got to test my snorkel out. Works great. Got really stuck in the the mud and got mud all up in the engine bay and the air filter was spic and span. Ill try and get some pictures from my friends cameras to put up here at some point. In 14 or so years of being in Indiana that was my first trip there.

Try a snorkel for the deisel landcruiser, or the prado. It should have the snorkel on the passenger side but may not be a perfect fit to the fender.

Yeah you do run that risk. I went through some pretty tight stuff and didn't mess it up. You just have to always be aware that it is there and what is getting close to it. I took the truck through atv trails and made it.

Got to test my snorkel out this past weekend. Here are the pictures from the trip to Attica.

There is a video, I think the link works where I get stuck in the mud. Snorkel proved its worth there. The open element filter I had before would have spelled disaster otherwise.
