Good mechanics in DFW?

Another blown HG.

Thought I had this all good to go. I take care of my truck like none other and this is driving me crazy.

Truck had a rebuild on it when we bought it in 2002. HG let go in 2004 and had premium long block with all the bells and whistles done by local motor supply co. new head bolts, ACL gaskets, new everything ($2k)

6 mos. later bad wrist pin, engine covered under warranty, labor isnt($6-8 bills)

Last week white smoke per the wife, check last night, low coolant, no overheating, no cloudy fluid in rad. or oil dipstick BUT peanut butter all in the oil cap and while I'm standing there looking at the oil cap, there is steam coming out of the oil cap 'hole'

We cant afford a swap, I dont want to do the rebuild myself, I REALLY dont want to go through this again, but dont see much of an alternative.

I had already bought the 2 p-side manifolds to do the crossover elimination mod to reduce the heat buildup that I believe is the biggest contributing factor to the HG problems in our trucks, but havent installed them yet.

On a good note, I dont have any other problems associated with the HG so I know I've caught it early. no knock, no overheating, just the smoke at startup for 20-30 secs. anf the PB in the oil cap.

Looking at getting the engnblder top end kit, maybe his OS valves and getting my mani's thermal coated and installed with fabbed exhaust down pipes while this is being done.

had to vent, but anyone know a good mech that will go this direction for me in DFW? I plan on calling the engine place and seeing if they will get me a deal on the top end only, I dk though as it is out of warranty. only problem with that is they supply everyone else here, so even if I went somewhere else I get their stuff. I like the guys I dealt with at the engine place and they have a nice setup as far as rebuilding side goes, but cant keep doing this.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

Mike
