Going through Tie Rod Ends

Ok guys. I am now on my third set of tie rod ends and they are shot also. What is going on? Its starting to get old. Could somebody please tell me what kills these things. And also what brand would you buy?

What "brand" are you using now? Is this a daily driver or a strictly off-road vehicle? How big are your front tires? Is your truck lifted?

I have more questions, but I'll stop there.

Im using the TRW ones from advanced.

Its an 86 Pickup 2wd with a 3 inch body lift and 235/75R15 tires. It is my daily driver.

I could be wrong (someone correct me if I am)
Didn't 2WD's come with 14's instead of 15's?
I think the tires are too big for the steering components.

Just a thought: can you use a steering stab. on that truck?
will tie-rod ends from a 4X4 fit?

Have a look at what tie-rods the 2WD "pre-runner" trucks use. They take a beating, but I don't know how long they last.
have a look at Fabtech.

They are aftermarket wheels. But they arent much bigger than stock. I can see why 33s would make that happen but 235/75R15s? And yes it has a steering stabilizer. I just replaced it.

here is the problem. The steering on the early IFS stuff was very poorly designed. you are going through what myself and others have been going through for a long, long time. I'm fixing mine permanently, others have done axle swaps. You aren't doing anything wrong. I know a guy running 28" tires, stock size, with no lift, and is ruining his stuff as well. its just simply a crappy set up. The newer stuff is better, but for the old, you gotta deal with it, or make something better yourself.
