is this going to be a problem? Intake 22re

Alright so if anyone has been following this thread...https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-start-149706/
they know what is going on. Well, I had some trouble getting the air intake chamber off. Tonight, after several applications over several days, of PB blaster and liquid wrench...plus some minor height from a "windproof" lighter, and a little muscle...I managed to get the upper part off...unfortunately much to my dismay a piece of the lower intake came with it.

When I get around to installing the new head, is this broken part going to be an issue? Thoughts on where to get a new one/used one if it is (no toyota motors this new (?!) at the junkyard.

Thanks,

Jeremy

You should be able to get one from a junkyard.

It looks like you need the lower half of the intake ?, you might try taprecycling.com here in california, they are a toyota only salvage yard and they will have what you need, but there prices can be a little high.

Target: I will call local yards here tomorrow
myyota: thanks for the website..I will check them out.
JS Engine: It is a 93, so I would assume that a 94 would work. What are you thinking?

same thing happened to my buddy's when he tore into his motor. he just got a new bolt, stuck a big washer on it, and tightened 'er down... but on that note, this is just his woods truck, not his DD, so I don't know how reliable this would be if you decide to do that. best thing would be a replacement lower plenum

Maybe you could use aluminum epoxy to reattach the piece and then a bolt washer and nut?

JB weld is your friend.

Actually unless you are running a lot of boost in your intake side I don't think you will have a problem sealing it back up. A liberal coat of RTV should ensure that. The two remaining bolts should snug it up nicely.

Thanks guys...I am thinking once it is off, I will bring it to a welder and have them put some more metal on...then I will use a bolt rather than a stud.

You're just having a hell of a time over there aren't you...

If it were me, I'd get another from a junkyard, ebay, or a forum member. It can't be that much and with all you have in it now it would be a shame to half a$$ it now...

The last thing you want is to complete the job and have a part fail and have to go back in.

I bet with what you'll pay to have it welded you could just about get another.

spend the money to fix it. I tried to fix my lower intake manifold and after all was said and done I had take it all back off and get a used one.

I got mine from a forum member for cheap...I think $30-$40??

Yup...I am having great fun wrenching! I am going to try and get some quotes from a junkyard tomorrow and I will be posting an ad in the wanted forums. The $300 intake assembly from LCE is a bit steep for me!

So if anyone has an extra kicking around that they would like to sell, PM me!!
